Environment
The Mozambique LNG Project is aware of the potential risks activities have on the environment, biodiversity and climate. We therefore make environmental issues an integral part of our strategy and seek to avoid or minimize risks to the environment, biodiversity and climate.
We recognize that our development requires care to avoid, minimize, offset or compensate environmental impacts. In 2014 we completed the project Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). From 2014 to 2019 we implemented various support studies to assess the extent of potential environmental impacts to ensure adequate management. The Environmental Social Health Impact Assessment (ESHIA) Executive Summary provides an overview of this work.
To further ensure all environmental impacts are managed during the construction phase of the project, we have a strong focus on:
- Resource management
- Pollution management and control
- Biodiversity (strategy and action plan)
- Environmental monitoring
