Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights
The Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPSHR), established in 2000, is an initiative created by a group of States, NGOs and extractive industry companies. These principles, developed in partnership by various stakeholders, guide oil, gas and mining companies to ensure the safety of their operations in a way that respects human rights. More specifically, they guide companies in comprehensively assessing human rights risks in their interaction with public and private security providers, ensuring that human rights are protected when safeguarding company facilities and assets.
At the Mozambique LNG Project, compliance with international human rights standards in all security operations and those of its business partners is an absolute priority.
